The Pulp

 

The pulp is an extremely valuable technical product, obtained from the vegetable tissue, through different chemical treatments. It represents the main raw material used for the production of paper and board, artificial fibers, pulp ethers and esters used for lacers, films, explosives, etc. At present, about 93 per cent from the world pulp production is used in the paper industry, the rest of 7 being represented by the production of chemical pulp. The pulp produced at Somes Dej is bleached and unbleached long fiber pulp and short fiber pulp obtained through the sulfate cooking kraft method. It is used as main raw material for the production of most types of paper.

The production capacity of the pulp plant is of 70,000 to/year, out of which about 30,000 to/year represents pulp for sale. The pulp produced is cut in sheets with dimensions of 50 x 80 cm, 60 x 80 cm and it is delivered in bales with gross weight of 200 kg for bleached pulp and 180 kg for unbleached pulp. The delivery is made at 90 dry substance (lutro). Somes Dej sells pulp both on the domestic and on the foreign market.

Somes Dej represents strategic unit for the domestic market, being the only producer of long fiber pulp in the country and in the southeast of Europe. The business partners from the country are all the companies from the Romania that produce paper. On the external market, the pulp is sold mainly in: Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Bosnia Herzegovina and other markets.
